Loafers - tassel or no tassel?

Assuming these loafers are going to be a fairly dark brown that I intend to wear with lighter-coloured casual trousers, such as chinos and linen trousers in the spring and summer, with 2 inch turn-ups and possibly forward-facing pleats, should I have tassel loafers or non-tassel loafers? I am quite flambouyant but not homosexual. This will be for casual situations only.
